Kuala Lumpur is the under-appreciated, gorgeous capital of Malaysia, an ethnically diverse nation sandwiched in between Thailand and Singapore. Kuala Lumpur, like most of Malaysia, is a teeming mix of cultures and religions, with a substantial population of neighborhood Malay people, as properly as Chinese, Thai, Indian and other Southeast Asians. A Muslim nation, Malaysians adhere to strict laws but are, at the same time, a warm and welcoming individuals with an eclectic and diverse culture. Kuala Lumpur is a extremely developed, gleaming modern town with a unique mix of ancient religion and contemporary economy.

Petronas Towers

Standing at a lofty 1483 ft (452 meters), the gleaming Petronas Towers were after the world’s highest buildings and still hold the record as the tallest twin towers on earth. The two are connected at their 41st floors by the Skybridge, which allows passage involving the two and a chance for website visitors to stand over empty space above Kuala Lumpur and admire the metropolis. Tickets can be purchased for access to the Skybridge, or alternately, visitors can just enjoy the massive shopping galleria located on the lower floors of the towers.

Merdeka Square

As soon as part of the nearby cricket club, the sprawling greens of Kuala Lumpur’s Independence Square butt correct up to the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad building, a historic structure built in Moorish style that reflecs the time period of its construction. It was in Merdeka Square in 1957 that Britain’s Union Jack was lowered from the flag pole and the Malaysian flag has flown right here ever since.

Lake Gardens

Situated just to the west of Merdeka Square, Lake Gardens is a sprawling, leafy complex of lawns and gardens that orbit around an artificial lake. Kuala Lumpur’s most common area park, it is both central and stunning. Within the confines of Lake Gardens, there is plenty to be discovered, including the lawns themselves, as nicely as a Hibiscus Garden and an Orchid Garden, as properly as the Malaysian National Monument, and three wildlife parks dedicated to birds, butterflies and deer respectively.

Chinatown

Malaysia has an very higher population of ethnic Chinese inhabitants, so it’s no surprise that its capital metropolis should have a bustling Chinatown. Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown sits just east of the Klang River in the town center and was the city’s conventional commercial district. These narrow streets and alleys are now stacked large with busy Chinese shops and restaurants, producing a excellent place for exploration of the markets and food stalls here. If you’re hankering for some fried noodles, cheap beer or trinkets, this is the place to go in KL.

Batu Caves

One of the most celebrated Hindu internet sites outside of India, Batu Caves are a limestone cave complex about 13 miles north of Kuala Lumpur metropolis center. Upon arrival at the internet site, site visitors are greeted by a massive, 140-foot (42.7-meter) tall golden statue of the Hindu god Murugan, and need to bypass him and ascend a steep series of 272 steps to enter the caves. There are 3 caves, the largest of which is known as Cathedral Cave – a gaping 328-foot (100-meter) high cavern filled with lavish Hindu shrines. Two smaller caves are located near the base of the hill and also contain temples and artifacts. Batu Caves is also a main base for Malaysian rock climbing. To reach the caves, take a taxi from KL city center.

Kuala Lumpur is the bustling capital city of Malaysia and its showpiece of prosperity and grandeur. Kuala Lumpur means ‘muddy estuary’, a name coined by the original tin prospectors who arrived at the confluence of the Kelang and Gombak rivers in 1860. Kuala Lumpur has progressed considerably since then as can be witnessed in the reflections of the glittering skyscrapers elegantly rising between the well-preserved colonial buildings of yesteryear. This blend of old and new worlds, interspersed with the diverse influences of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultural lifestyles, makes for a fascinating exploration of the city’s streets. An orientation of Kuala Lumpur is best begun from Merdeka Square, the heart of the city. To the southeast of the square is the modern business centre and the bustling streets of Chinatown. The picturesque National Mosque (Masjid Negara) and impressive Railway Station can be located to the south and beyond them to the west is the city’s green belt. The tranquil and lush Lake Gardens provides some respite from the frenetic activity of the city. The National Museum (Muzim Negara), the National Monument and the Malaysian Parliament are also found on this stretch.

Why? From the top of the world’s tallest building, to the alleyways of Chinatown and Little India, a holiday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s soaring city, is breath-taking. The metropolis is also a source of fantastic shopping, amazing food and very inexpensive luxury hotels. The city’s cultural diversity provides plenty of sightseeing for those who travel to Kuala Lumpur, from tranquil temples and glorious gardens to bustling street markets. When? Kuala Lumpur is hot and humid all year round, and rain can be expected any time. The city is therefore a year-round destination, but it is best to check which local festivals or cultural events are on before you travel to Kuala Lumpur because the crowds these attract may make it better to avoid these occasions. Who for? Essentially a holiday in Kuala Lumpur is for shopaholics, who will relish the fantastic malls and street markets. Families can have a great deal of fun if they travel to Kuala Lumpur too, with its amazing indoor theme park. Others will just enjoy wandering the streets between the towering sky-scrapers and eating as often as possible at the city’s legendary restaurants.
